Recruitment
A comprehensive recruitment procedure provides a clear framework for successfully advertising and recruiting vacancies whilst complying with UK law. The aim of the recruitment procedure is to ensure your company has the right person, in the right place, at the right time
Why is this important?
The average employer currently spends £3,000 and 27.5 days recruiting for a vacancy, and the cost to the company can dramatically increase if the money and time spent on recruiting results in poor decision making and the wrong applicant being appointed
If the new employee simply ‘doesn’t fit’ and decides to leave of their own choice then the company is left with the repeated costs of recruiting for the position again, combined with additional cost from the disruption to productivity, time required to train a new employee again, and the overall impact on efficiency and service
If the employee doesn’t fit and cannot perform the role sufficiently well, but does not want to leave, then the company is faced with all of the above plus the potential of far greater costs from managing the poor performance including the frustration for the wider team which can easily damage relationships and lead to wider disengagement and lower moral, and the potential for claims brought buy the underperforming employee at an Employment Tribunal
Alongside the costs detailed above there are also significant penalties if the company recruits a good quality employee without having performed the required checks to establish their ‘right to work’ in the UK, or if a candidate with a criminal record has their application declined because of this without sufficient justification
This pack will ensure that your company operates a robust recruitment process to ensure the best candidates are found & selected, whilst avoiding serious legal or social costs to the company
